Average sports bar IMO. The large patio is the main attraction. The food is typical bar food & nothing to write home about. The night of this review, fire trucks & police cars kept going by so the deafening sound of random sirens became a little annoying. Our waitress seemed bitter & clearly she would have preferred to be doing something else.

Maloneys is one of my favorite bars in KC. Great pizza, the rest of the menu is a little weak. I would love to give this place a 4-5 but the service is probably the worst I have ever had, anywhere, 9 times out of 10. Only exceptions are the bar tenders. They rock. But seriously, fire 85% of your waitstaff.

Monday is build your own pasta night. A half pound of penne with your choice of 3 sauces and 2 ingredients - $.59 for each additional ingredient and $.99 to add cheese and bake it. Good service, really great beer selection. Monday's are also $2.25 domestic draws.

I like Maloney's. It's a bit far from my house, so I am not here often, but I do come here because I know several people who live right by here, so it's THEIR bar of choice many times. The service has always been pretty quick and friendly. The food has been pretty decent for bar food...you can get all the basics but nothing all that creative. The prices seem fair - not outstanding, but not expensive. No drink has ever kicked me in the butt saying "wow, that's a good pour for a good price!", but I've never felt any drink was too weak. Also a decent place to watch a game - tons of TVs and the people there really get in to...but not in an annoying way. Parking can be a pain on really busy nights, but usually not all that bad. Outdoor seating is lovely on a nice night, but overlooks the occasionally busy and sometimes loud 79th Street.

Went to lunch here with a colleague. It was Tuesday so tacos were the special. The price was right... $.99 for a hard shell beef taco. Other meats were more, as were the soft shells. The taco was standard; meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes and onions if you liked. Overall it was standard bar fare; nothing special but not bad. My friend had a Philly and fries and seemed to enjoy it. Overall an average lunch, fairly priced.

I enjoy the lunch specials at Maloney's. I have had the tacos and the burritos. Both were very tasty, and the prices were very good. The service has always been friendly, attentive, and quick.

Beautiful rooftop bar. Great food. Good prices and plenty of tvs. I really like this place.

I'm a bit shocked at myself for giving any sports bar a four star rating, but Maloney's is pretty darn close to a four in my opinion. Here's why... The service! Fast friendly table service at any bar is a really big deal. I have always had wonderful service at Maloney's. My hubby and I went last night and our waitress was sweet, charming and efficient. Happy Hour! We went last night for Taco Tuesday. Tacos vary in price from 99 cents to over two bucks. We had some tacos that were filling but nothing to write home about. But for the price, they weren't bad as bar food goes. We also had $5 double margaritas and they didn't skimp on the booze. My hubby handed me his glass only 1/3 of the way in because he was already buzzed and he was the designated driver. Apple tart! You've never had a dessert this good in a bar before. You really should try it. It's a crunchy crust with apple filling served hot with caramel sauce and ice cream. Patio! Maloney's has a big patio that's perfect to enjoy on cool evenings.

So many tvs. Everyone will be able to watch a game. I believe they are the only bar in KC that will reserve a table for you. But you have to get there early to claim it. Food is good and drink specials are good also.

This place use to be fun but has made a change for the worse! Staff doesn't care. It now feels like a Mexican restaurant and not a sports bar! Bar staff is now below average.

I went their on a K-State - KU basketball game night - and the place was filled with KU folks. Being a K-State fan, not the most fun atmosphere. The service, beer selection and $5.95 pasta was really great. They had a good selection of beers and the pasta was a deal (comes with garlic toast). One can choose their sauce, 2 toppings and for an additional dollar add cheese. I was especially impressed by the service. At most restaurants, I would never get the requested crushed red peppers along with the entree but Maloney's got it right the first time around :) Our server was very attentive and very pleasant too.

Full disclosure, I only come here for Thursday $5 burgers. For that end, this place is GREAT. I really am a fan of the deal. For five buckaroos, you get a very sizeable burger that is cooked well and has a great flavor. Add cheese or bacon for a buck, and enjoy a pile of fried with your meal. For $5, I really don't know how you could do better! It is simply delicious. The only qualm I have is not even related to the restaurant. It just gets a little packed inside. The decor itself is pretty standard; televisions adorn every possible angle and there are bar stools a plenty. The waitresses are the typical young, attractive bar type, and they are very friendly and able. Really just a great little sports bar!! I haven't been when it has been too packed, but on Thursdays for burgers it can't be beat.

I'm waffling between giving Maloney's 3 or 4 stars, but since it has become another one of our Sunday go-to spots when we're looking to relax and have some decent bar food, I'm going to go ahead and give it a 4. I wasn't really sure if I cared much for Maloney's the first time we were in, as they always have at least one game on the multiple TVs (because, duh, it's a sports bar), so it can get quite loud. And on the weekends, they have their full menu as well as brunch, and it's a neighborhood place...so it's somewhat kid friendly...if you can ever call a bar kid friendly (which I really can't), so I'm not a huge fan of going into a bar and seeing kids in there. But apparently the place has grown on me and I've gotten good at ignoring the kids, as we keep coming back! The menu is pretty large, and everything that we've tried so far has been decent, if not very good. I generally keep going back for the nachos with espinaca, but have also had a salad (good and huge!), the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato (because sometimes you just want a grilled cheese!), and the Italian beef sandwich. My husband has been far more adventurous, and tried everything from the Awesomelette brunch omelet to the Reuben. We also keep saying we'll try the pizza, but haven't yet. Regardless, we haven't ever had anything here that we dislike. They do have daily food and drink specials, and offer both large and small pours for the mixed drinks. Prices seem pretty reasonable on the drinks - the Jameson is fairly expensive at $6, but they're not stingy with the pours, either. Regular menu prices are reasonable, especially for portion sizes. Almost all of the servers working here are friendly and outgoing - the only bad one we had was behind the bar one Sunday night in December and I hadn't seen her before, and haven't seen her since, so I'll assume it was an off night. (Or that we shouldn't go there after lunch/late afternoon time, as that was the first time we had made a nighttime trip in.) Service is equally good whether you sit at the bar or at one of the tables, but we generally prefer to sit at the bar when we're in - it's just a bit more interesting! There do seem to be a lot of regulars/repeat visitors here, and it can get crowded depending on what games are on. All in all, it's close by, open on Sundays, and the food is good, and that makes me a fan of Maloney's.

Above average sports bar. Good place to get some descent bar food and cold beers. Great place to catch a royals or ku game. Waitresses are friendly, prompt and generally good looking. Really enjoy the patio and upper deck when the weather is nice. Usually stop in on Wednesday after work for cheap domestic beer specials. Could be 5 stars but the amount of and location of restrooms is not ideal.

Two patios to choose from. One allows dogs. They even brought a bowl of water out for my puppy. The atmosphere in general is very relaxed and pleasant. When another patron was standing right in front of the TV while we were trying to watch the Royals game, we let the waitress know and she immediately and very discreetly addressed the issue with the patron. Overall great service. I would give it five stars, except that the pork chop was tough on the outside and too pink on the inside. Fabulous place overall though. They also will separate the beer bucket when you choose to pay with separate checks, if you wish.

OK, so I got a job across the street during the day and we only get a 30 minute lunch break. I went in on Pasta Day for $5.95. You get 1/2 lb of pasta, your choice of sauce, and 2 ingredients. I have NEVER had a good food experience in this place and have assessed the service to be spotty at best. Today, Scott (The Manager) was working behind the bar. The service and the food were on point. I was shocked. I was so shocked that I told him I had written an unfavorable review, but that I would take the time to write an update commending my most recent experience. Pasta day is a sure hit with your taste buds and dirt cheap. I especially enjoyed the garlic texas toast slice that came with the meal. A great value and the service was great.

Service is fine. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. Maloney's definitely has the best Thursday night steak special, primarily because the steak itself is delicious. I love their menu. It goes beyond bar food. My only complaint with Maloney's is that it's uncomfortable. I don't mean that I feel awkward, I mean that my back legitimately hurts when I leave the place. If given the option, always choose the bar tables. The wooden booths are absolutely awful and cause weird posture situations. I love the nachos. Who doesn't love nachos? If you don't love nachos, we've got issues. I have a feeling my opinion of this place will change and I'll like it a lot more once the rooftop space becomes available. I go for the food and the beer, not for the service and chairs. Best patio in Johnson County.

We live close to downtown OP so Maloney's is within walking distance and was always a go to spot if we felt like staying close to home. That being said it has gone from one of my favorite bars to probably my 3rd choice in this area behind The Peanut and The Other Place. The main reason being the service has really fallen off. We will still go if the weather is nice as the patio really is great but be warned that the service is very slow and just generally inattentive. The food is generally pretty good consisting of various sandwiches and pizza. Bottom line, if I think I can get a seat on the patio on a nice day I'll go for it but otherwise I head for one of the other establishments in the area.

Great sports bar. The enchilada dip is a pretty great appetizer and the beer prices are good as well. Tons of TVs everywhere and an awesome upper level with an outdoor area. One of the best bars around

$15 for 5 bottle mixed buckets on Saturday afternoon... Includes premium beers. That is a decent deal... not great. Better than full price, though! Saturday also brings a BYO Mac and Cheese opportunity. I had bacon and jalapeno. Awesome. The mac and cheese here is serious food and seriously good. There are more TVs than you could possible need. We watched the Tour De France, Wimbleton, and a Royals game all at the same time!

A great place for a beer while sitting on the patio and watching a game. Food is great as well and the place has such a awesome vibe. Went there with friends last night and we'll definitely be back soon. This place is quickly becoming my favorite bar and grill in town!

In my childless days we frequented Maloneys, mostly because it was within walking distance from our Downtown OP house. Since moving, I have gone back to Maloneys several times. The food is...well...okay bar food. The drinks are drinks. The atmosphere, however, is great and the service is always good. Definitely the perfect 'neighborhood bar'.

Headed out for brunch in Downtown OP on July 5, there were a few restaurants that decided to take the morning off. Thankfully Maloneys wasn't one of them. Surprisingly we had never been there before. My husband and I enjoyed our bloody mary's. I had a frittata that was as good as anywhere else I've been in town. My husband had an omelette where he could choose from pretty much anything to fill it with. My 21-month-old daughter had a half order of french toast, which she quickly devoured. We'll be back and head back for lunch or dinner. I want to sit out on the patio.

Really good steak at a good price. Cooked perfectly as requested. Ordered the tots and mushrooms as an app and they were perfect. Couldn't even eat it all! Would for sure come back again!
A-OK, I guess. I definitely feel like, "Meh, I've had better," as I have had MUCH better, but there are some qualities I will mention. On a Friday night, we decided to try somewhere other than our two regular places. After considering other places in DT OP, we decided on Maloney's for dinner. First is the parking (not a "quality"). Do NOT park in the strip mall lot behind Maloney's that is inundated with signs threatening to tow . . .because they routinely sweep that lot with tow trucks. The owner must be a really sad, unhappy person if he has nothing better to do than monitor that lot AFTER ALL THE BUSINESSES ARE CLOSED. Just don't park there. There are a couple of public lots about 1/2 block back, or you can park on the street. Next,I know it was a Friday/dinner time, but this place was ridiculously huge and packed. It is LOUD. As in, you will not be able to have a conversation with whoever you are with loud. I don't dig that. Well, since there was nowhere on the downstairs patio or downstairs indoors, we headed upstairs. Someone was having a b-day party, so most of the covered portion of upstairs was occupied or had "reserved" signs. Uhmmmmmm, but the party is in full swing, and no one is sitting there! Didn't matter. The upstairs outdoor patio was packed, too. So, we headed back downstairs and stood around looking sad. No servers/workers offered to help us. I finally pretty much attacked one and asked her about seating. She said there was one seat available outside, so we sat at a wobbly high top right by the supply cart and door. Not my favorite, but I was hungry and thirsty, so whatever. Ours server was just OK. She did not know much about the beer selection, and she didn't seem too interested in whether or not we were satisfied with our food/drinks/experience. That is really the negative. Now let's get on with the positive. The specials for each night of the week sound DELICIOUS! For Friday, I had a choice of salmon club or pot roast sliders. I chose the sliders; each had a different kind of sauce on it. YUM! It came with fries and was about $7. Not bad compared to what I usually pay for bar food at my favorite bar. Beer specials: Guinness Blonde and Deschutes Twlight for $3.25? Good deal! I don't know their regular prices, but those were good deals for a Friday night. Well, after dinner and two drinks, we headed to our regular spot to end the night. I just did not feel at home at Maloney's. I will definitely come back and try it out a few more times; maybe during the week it will not be so busy, and I will feel as if it is truly a place to unwind? The rest of the food menu looks really good, too. Perhaps more stars? We shall see.

I love this little sports bar. They make most of their food in house. The chicken fingers are the best! I've had the pizza and it is also very good. They have the best daily specials for food and drinks. The pork chop special on Saturdays for under $8.00 eats like a $40.00 meal at Houston's. KC strip night is on Thursdays and is the best reasonably priced strip steak I have ever had. They make the best roasted asparagus that is usually one of the sides on steak night. I love their plastic drink cups that yiu get to take home with you if you want to take one.

Have I really not reviewed Maloney's? Maloney's is probably my favorite sports bar in the sports bar haven that is downtown Overland Park. Over the years, Maloney's has made some positive changes, including updating their menu, adding brunch, and their most recent addition, the rooftop patio. Service can be spotty at Maloney's, it doesn't seem like there is ever a sense of urgency or that the servers want you to genuinely enjoy your experience. The attitude seems to be more like, "you're here, and I'm here.... I will probably come to your table from time to time to see if you need more drinks... You know, since I'm here...." That being said, the food is pretty good, and the food specials are actually pretty fantastic. The build your own pasta is really delicious, their pizzas are great, and I really like their nachos as well. Thursday is burger or steak night, and the place is always packed. A great surprise though, is their Saturday night special, the pork chop with mac and cheese. The pork chop is huge and delicious, and it's super cheap, like 8$. Yummmm.... The new rooftop patio is fun, half is covered and half is outside. An advantage is that it is smoke free, however, since all of the smokers are right below you on the patio, you can still tend to smell the smoke that wafts up to the second story. Oh well, it can't be perfect, can it? Maloney's is a fun spot to catch a game, grab a drink, or even enjoy dinner. If they worked on the service, this could easily be a 5 star sports bar.

Visiting from Las Vegas, wanted to hit a local place with a good vibe. The Ruben was excellent, fries came with, and they were great. Not overpriced. Samantha was an outstanding server. I definitely recommend it.

Best Buffalo Chicken sandwich I've ever had. My wife, son and his GF went in Sat around noon to eat and watch NCAA tourney. We finished lunch and my son and I stayed to watch the games. We had a couple beers when a different waitress came up to us and told us we had to move because they made a mistake and the table was suppose to be reserved by a group of people who were at a sports bar not watching sports, half of them weren't weren't drinking and none were eating. That looks like a really solid business decision because we won't be rushing back as we finished our drinks and went to Johnny's. Return visit for taco Tuesday. Absolutely awful. Ground beef was charred, dried out and I can't believe it was even served. Apparently we had a new waitress which I can live with but she forgot absolutely everything. We got fish tacos instead of chicken, we ordered beers that never came and when they did 30 mins later, it was a different waitress. She said "did you order two beers" and my wife jokingly said 4 hrs ago. She said she's new and not nice. Wrong answer, I will not return to this place as I've been there two times and was treated poorly both times. Manager of this place obviously needs to go.

We just moved close to this place, and we are so happy we found it!! Great indoor/outdoor space, tons of tvs, really good bar food that is reasonably priced. Build your own Mac N Cheese is awesome. They also show UFC fights if you're into that thing. The new hang out spot for sure!

My husband and I were looking for a place with a patio to grab a bite to eat and watch the Royals game last night. We searched for "patio bars in Overland Park" and found Maloney's. We had never been here before so decided to give it a try. The roof-top patio is a little over a year old. It is amazing. Half is covered and half is uncovered. We sat in the covered area, as it was after 7 and getting a bit chilly. There are garage doors that were opened, so there was a nice breeze. It is very new and clean still. Bathrooms are nice. This patio is definitely a plus. The food was average, nothing spectacular, but the prices are very reasonable. I had the strawberry salad and it was $8.95, and the sliced chicken breast was seasoned well and the portion was ample. My husband had the Maluban sandwich, $8.95 also, which is a 3-deli meat sandwich on a toasted hoagie with melted cheese and a special sauce. The onion rings were definitely frozen out of a bag, but at least they were crispy. It was $1.25 extra for onion rings. Our server was attentive but there was only one bartender for the entire upstairs patio, as far a we could tell. Drinks and food took a bit of time, but not so long that we were irritated. Plus, it was Friday night and we were chilling! We will be back with a group next time. This is a great place to hang out with friends!

Went here because I read that they have the best buffalo chicken sandwich in KC. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't call it the best. Not a fan of the bun. Side salad is pretty impressive, as was the service. Buffalo chicken pizza was pretty good, and my boyfriend enjoyed the sandwich that he had (can't remember what it was called, but it was loaded with meat). The parking isn't the best, but the atmosphere is good. Lots of tv, and KU fans....for people that care about basketball...

I've been to Maloney's a handful of times. The food is decent, but nothing really stands out (I usually stick with appetizers though). The drinks aren't bad either. The service kind of varies. I've had decent ( but not outstanding) and I've had poor. The latest time (Feb 2015) the waitress never checked in on us after she brought our food (and she didn't even bring the food!). The music, at least downstairs, is really cranked loud, for whatever that's worth. I haven't had a chance to go to the new upstairs area and upstairs patio(!), so I'll go back for that. Overall, it's an average sports bar. Not terrible. Not great.

Fav sports bar in OP! Great place to catch the games. Shared a California Pizza along with some nachos and they were both delicious! Generous toppings and great flavor! The wait staff was very attentive and the drinks were tasty as well! Nice outdoor patio for the summer. Highly recommended!

Server was overwhelmed and very hard to get her attention. She forgot many basics...like menus and water. Food was barely edible. I go out because I want food that is better than what I could make at home. This was not the case here. Taco salad was bland and beef was overcooked and dry. Friend got blt and fries. Both were disappointing. We won't go back.

I ordered a tenderloin sandwhich and fries as suggested by the waitress, who was very friendly. Then I remembered to check in on Yelp and found the reviews talking about their salads. I asked them to change the fries to a side salad...no problem. The side salad was pretty freakin' awesome. Thanks Yelpers! I love it when a place does a nice side salad. The tenderloin sandwhich was a little overcooked but it was at least a REAL tenderloin, not a processed one. I look forward to going back and getting it again hoping to catch a better cook next time. Fast, friendly lunch service and under $10 without the tip. I'll be going back.

I eat here about once every three months or so. When ever I get my oil changed or car fixed, I walk across the street and sit and have a beer and some food while I wait. I was there today. Getting a flat fixed on the car I walk over in the pouring rain, hop up on a bar stool and order a coke and the special. They have a special everyday and today is my favorite. Cheeseburger and Fries for $4.99 can't beat it. 1/2 pound ground beef minus the cheese for me and yummy crispy fries for $4.99 one of the best deals in town. The bartender is really nice and takes my order and brings me a coke. The nozzel on the coke despencer blows off across the bar and she grabs it and appolizes. She asked if she got me or anyone else near by. We all laugh and said no. She said it always pops off on her. She cleans the bar top up and brings me my food. T.V.'s are on every sport playing at 1pm in the afternoon and the tables are buzzing with late lunches. Food is hot and fast. Coke is kept full by the nice bartender. She seems to know everyone that sits down at the bar. All in all. Good lunch, great price and super service.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to give Maloney's 3 stars or 4 stars, but I upped it to 4 stars because I love their patio when the weather is nice. Maloney's is a great neighborhood bar, but isn't that big so when it gets crowded, it's crowded! They have big screen TVs, which make it a great place to watch a game. Maloney's has daily specials and a good beer selection. Their menu offers a variety of food from pizzas to burgers to sandwiches. Their pizzas are really good! Service can sometimes be slow when it gets crowded.

Nothing much to love about this place. Vaguely tolerable, frozen off the truck bar food. Not much in the way of beer selection. Service is alright. There are hundreds of places in the metro I'd rather eat or have a drink. On the plus side, they do play the audio for whatever important game is on, and they have a whole bunch of TVs. That's about the best thing I can say. Even then, there are several other spots in the metro I'd rather watch a game, and one of them is like a block away. Given this place a few tries. Probably won't give it any more.

It is what it is, a local bar. Biggest plus about this place is the patio, there isn't another like it in the area. Food is ok, service is so so. Really small inside and not enough bathrooms to handle the amount of people in there. Usually very crowded. Good atmosphere for the NCAA tourney games though.

All around decent bar food to be had at a fair price. Attentive and friendly wait staff is also a plus. I've never watched a game here (I usually opt for The Other Place around the corner), but it would probably suffice. I love the House Recipe ketchup. Props to Maloney's for not selling out to Heinz or Hunt's. The huge outdoor patio is nice, but if you despise second hand smoke as much as I do, you won't enjoy it. What is it with the obnoxious bar patrons that congregate here? I've witnessed some sloppy inebriation in my days, but this place takes the cake. If you come here after 9:00-10:00 PM Thurs-Sat night, prepare to have a drink or two spilled on you, get staggered into numerous times, and have random drunks initiate senseless conversation with you. If you prefer the company of classy drunks, look elsewhere. By the way, I have no sympathy for anyone who has their car towed by parking in front of the business next door. Yes, it is a d-bag move on the business owner's part to not allow parking in his lot past normal business hours, but c'mon...there are warning signs posted EVERYWHERE. Even Stevie Wonder knows not to park there...

Alicia R.
Great outdoor seating and wonderful salads. Now, I know that most people go to a bar for pub grub, but they make large and tasty salads (and I like to think of it as a nutrition bomb to offset all the drinks). Try the Greek with chicken....yum! The Strawberry Spinach is also good.
(3)
Brenda S.
It was a beautiful night for happy hour and the outside seating was divine. Well, almost. Except for the 50 mph wind whipping around the corner of the building blowing our food and drinks onto the table next to ours. They had flaps that they could roll down to block the wind, but the manager politely explained that if we closed off one side, the whole porch would be no longer smoker friendly. I might have appreciated this more if I had actually seen any smokers. But with the wind blowing that hard, they couldn't have lit the darn things anyway. Overland Park sucks. Maloney's.... needs another solution if they are going to stay in Kansas where the wind blows ALL YEAR LONG. The food was good, and timely. Our waitress (12 months pregnant) was sweet, accurate, and efficient. She even recruited help when our group got too large. Prices were reasonable, but no happy hour specials on Friday.

This is a great little neighborhood bar. If you want to watch football or basketball it doesn't get any better than this bar on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. If you want to kick back in the evening and have a good dinner and a few drinks, Maloney's can do that too. The pizza and hamburgers and much, much better than your typical bar fare. There are always different food specials and there is a diverse menu that everyone will be able to find something from. The waitresses are the best in the business and are always friendly and willing to go out of their way to make sure you're happy. This is definitely a KU bar so if you are going for a KU game show up early if you plan on getting a table. The wait staff doesn't mind if you hold a table but make sure you are ordering drinks and tip well and not just taking up a table.

This sports bar has a pretty good menu that includes desserts like homemade ice ream and root beer floats (yay!). I had a hawaiian pizza that was delicious, and I love that they serve mini sizes. Only one pool table, and it can be a bit smoky inside, but a good ambiance and reasonable service. Lots of arcade games and TVs. I appreciate the large and clean bathroom.

Maloney's is a usual hangout for after work around my office. Nice place. Service is good depending on who you get as a server. Menu is decent but not real creative. Never sit inside, always sit outside.

I love this bar. Best place to catch a game on the tons of flatscreens. Good service is a plus. Awesome food, I recommend the build your own burger or the nachos if u want to share. Family atmosphere and a killer patio for those warm summer months.

Good local bar, decent food, friendly service. I always forget they have a Sunday brunch and I've been meaning to try it. Fully agree with everyone else about watching where you park. The last time I was there, my friend had her car towed -- and she was only with us for about an hour. He must have a tow truck parked down the street. And none of his businesses were open. The guy who owns the business next door is a major ass.

I can't speak for the food, but the huge patio is a nice spot to hang out with friends on a warm summer evening. It seems that they have a decent beer selection, but our waitress gave me a strange look when I asked if they had Free State beer. She said she had never heard of it. The service was ok, maybe because we didn't order food they were a bit less attentive, but we could always catch a server when we needed one. I do have to agree that the second hand smoke on the patio is a bit unpleasant. We were surrounded by cigar and cig smokers, ick. It is so frustrating that the indoor smoking ban has made outdoor seating into the smoking section. I have to agree with the facebook group of the same name, A Smoking Section in a Restaurant is like a Peeing Section in a Swimming Pool. Totally would have been three stars if not for the smoke. The other patrons were mixed, a few couples and a bunch of young frat and sorority types. Nothing too obnoxious on a weekday evening. To sum up, a nice spot to grab a drink, but be prepared for smoke outside.

I only go to this bar when the weather is nice to sit on their patio, which is close to the same size as the inside. As the previous reviewers have mentioned, inside they have pool, darts, Golden Tee, etc. and only a smattering of the normal beers you can find almost anywhere on tap. You can buy beer by the pitcher, which is always a plus in my book. The inside is kind of cramped, and we generally avoided it at all costs prior to the smoking ban. Haven't visited there since the ban has been in place. The outside patio is great though. There is generally a nice size crowd on the weekends in the summer, but we've never had an issue finding a table. The service is good and we've always had friendly/talkative waitresses. The food is pretty standard bar stuff. I wouldn't come here to eat, but if you need to get something to suppliment your drinking, their selection does just fine. I generally stick to the ham & cheese melt. Two bad things about this place? One, Overland Park's finest have been known to stalk in the surrounding parking lots, so be safe. Two, we have been there multiple times when the guy who owns the shops behind Maloney's is having cars towed for parking in front of his stores. Nevermind that it's 10PM and everything there has been closed for hours. He's a major prick. Maybe they sorted something out with him by now, but watch out.

Just a typical sports bar. Had my husband and I known that KU was playing tonight we might not have gone. Inside was very loud, as soon as we sat down we found ourselves yelling across the table just to be heard. We moved outside and it was mush quieter. The patio was huge and pretty comfortable to sit at. The server, Courtney, was very friendly and provided great service. If we were in the area and in the mood for bar food we would go back.

If i'm in the midwest and need to catch a game, THIS IS WHERE I'M GOIN! Chuggin' Boulevard wheat and throwin' down some hamburgers at Maloney's is a VERY GOOD IDEA. A MIDWESTERN STAPLE. BRAVO!

I had not been to Maloneys since I moved away from North OP in August. I met a friend for a drink and forgot what a great little neighborhood bar it is. I would not consider it a dive bar, but I digress. The patio is really nice but there is room inside, and every time we go it is crowded enough to not feel like you are in some sad, crusty bar, but not too packed that you feel suffocated ( I am too old to elbow people to get to the ladies room). The mozzarella sticks are yummy and the nachos are good too. The waitresses are always quality and I never leave with a gigantic tab--I think Miller Lights were 2.50 the night we went... Maloneys is that place to go when you want to talk with friends or feel like wearing a ball cap and a ponytail. I am always overdressed when we go(although I believe there is no such thing) but that is the overall feel of the place and there is a mix of regulars and casual patrons too.

Great bar food and service. Only downfall is that it can get pretty crowded during a game - but that's part of the fun of watching at a bar.

I found this place through an google search of bars around where I am in Overland park. I had no expectations when I went to Maloney's for the first time on a Friday night. It was crowded like any bar would be - but it wasn't overflowing with people. I ordered a pizza and beer and they both were decently priced. I like their pizza - a mini with 2 toppings is only 6 bucks. Beers are under 3 for the most part. Mojiotos and other mixed drinks are $4 or $5. That is amazing to me coming from Chicago where a vodka cranberry is $6. This bar has a decent food menu and the service is pretty decent. There are a few waitresses with an attitude problem - but what bar doesn't. The bartenders here are friendly and efficient. The place also has an interesting mix of patrons - I've seen college kids, working professionals, blue collar workers as well as senior citizens on occasion! There are darts and pool to play and a jukebox that has a decent selection. Its a pretty laid back place to have a few beers and watch a game. My only gripe is their beer selection. It is very limited. I love trying new beers and drinking the ones I already love such as Sapporo, Lowenbrau, steigl, etc and Maloney's has none of those. They only carry 3 or 4 european ones and no asian beers. But until I find another place that is as cheap and has more beers- Maloney's is my choice!

Somewhat of a surprise. The menu includes very little that we would usually order, so we expected the worst. But the quality made up for that. We got the tilapia, Greek salad, corn casserole, and veggies. Everything was very good, better than we had anticipated. Also the service was rapid and excellent, a big change from Peanut a few blocks away in Downtown Overland Park. We had just walked out of Peanut after waiting for service for 15 minutes, without a server coming to our table.

Maloney's is a typical sports bar but one of the better ones in the OP area. They get 4 stars just for their huge patio alone. It can get busy and the service can get a little slow but it is no worse than any other bar. Plenty of TVs to watch whatever sports game happens to be on. Pretty typical beer prices. I've only eaten there a few times but the food has always been good (the Buffalo Chicken Pizza is my favorite). I live in South KC so I'm not out by Maloney's often but when I am in the area it is at the top of my list of a bar to go to. I will say one downside is the parking. They have a fairly small lot and then other than that it is street parking. There is an empty building with parking right next door but for some reason you can't park there. There are all these signs up that say you will get towed if you park there and nobody ever does park there so I will take them at their word.

(3)Stephen H.

(4)Matt F.
(3)Steve D.
I enjoy the lunch specials at Maloney's. I have had the tacos and the burritos. Both were very tasty, and the prices were very good. The service has always been friendly, attentive, and quick.
(4)Adrianne S.
Beautiful rooftop bar. Great food. Good prices and plenty of tvs. I really like this place.
(5)Ann W.
(4)Lynsey S.
So many tvs. Everyone will be able to watch a game. I believe they are the only bar in KC that will reserve a table for you. But you have to get there early to claim it. Food is good and drink specials are good also.
(5)Liam A.

(4)Clayton R.

(4)Anna L.

(3)Bob M.
(3)Sean R.
Great sports bar. The enchilada dip is a pretty great appetizer and the beer prices are good as well. Tons of TVs everywhere and an awesome upper level with an outdoor area. One of the best bars around
(4)Reed N.
(4)C J.
A great place for a beer while sitting on the patio and watching a game. Food is great as well and the place has such a awesome vibe. Went there with friends last night and we'll definitely be back soon. This place is quickly becoming my favorite bar and grill in town!
(5)M S.
(4)Josh C.
To be fair, I've only been there once. I wasn't blown away, but it was all in all pretty good. I would recommend it, and would probably go back.
(3)Jennifer S.
Great patio, great food, great beer. Awesome place to watch a KU game. Highly recommend!
(5)Melisa V.
(4)Jo M.
Really good steak at a good price. Cooked perfectly as requested. Ordered the tots and mushrooms as an app and they were perfect. Couldn't even eat it all! Would for sure come back again!
(4)Tyler G.
Usually love maloneys but tonight my fiancé ordered a vodka sprite. The drink came out flat tasting. We told the bartender and she returned with another drink, even flatter. Not sure if it was because of the big crowd but bad drinks are not good for customers!
(1)Rose L.
(3)Todd H.
(5)Jen D.
(4)Anthony S.
Visiting from Las Vegas, wanted to hit a local place with a good vibe. The Ruben was excellent, fries came with, and they were great. Not overpriced. Samantha was an outstanding server. I definitely recommend it.
(4)Daniel Z.
(1)Tess L.
We just moved close to this place, and we are so happy we found it!! Great indoor/outdoor space, tons of tvs, really good bar food that is reasonably priced. Build your own Mac N Cheese is awesome. They also show UFC fights if you're into that thing. The new hang out spot for sure!
(4)Beth B.
(4)Kevin B.
A local place that my kids like to take me to.
(4)Vicki S.
(4)Rock H.
Not great.
(3)Abby J.
Fav sports bar in OP! Great place to catch the games. Shared a California Pizza along with some nachos and they were both delicious! Generous toppings and great flavor! The wait staff was very attentive and the drinks were tasty as well! Nice outdoor patio for the summer. Highly recommended!
(5)Tricia S.
(1)Shawn B.
(4)Rita M.
Food is excellent - can't resist the burgers and salads. The only thing bad is the noise level. Fabulous place to watch sporting events. Stuffed mushrooms - out of this world.
(5)Nathan L.
Menu is very blah. You will continually look at it and not be able to make a decision. Chips and Queso is fantastic and the Sat night Pork Chop special is soo good and such a good deal. Wings no good, pizza pretty good
(3)Kim N.

Great neighborhood bar and grill. Fun and attentive staff. Great specials. I highly recommend the grilled pork chop and Mac and cheese on Saturday. It is fantastic!

this is an awesome little place. Great patio, good food. Honestly I wish the beer selection was better but...you win some, loose some. I recommend checking it out for yourself; I dont think you will be disappointed.

Great outdoor seating and wonderful salads. Now, I know that most people go to a bar for pub grub, but they make large and tasty salads (and I like to think of it as a nutrition bomb to offset all the drinks). Try the Greek with chicken....yum! The Strawberry Spinach is also good.

This is a great local bar with great food and a friendly staff! Their chicken tenders and pizzas are so good and it's it's a fun place to come any day!

The burgers special on Thursday is great. The tacos on Tuesday are super. Give it a try.
